Black Nightmares
Can't sleep
Can't write
Can't weep
Head is screaming
In an emotional debate
It's past late
Life trouble on my plate
Hold me
In your arms
I surrender
To you
Till early dawn
Can't sleep
Can't eat
Here I stand
My feet
Stuck in the sand
Crumbling
Torn
In a land
Of broken dreams
Blood flooding
Down stream
Of battered
Bodies
Shamelessly
Taken
Shaken
Strangled
Broken
Bruised
As I catch
My last breath
To breathe
This nightmare
Holding me
Hostage
I fight back
Return to
My life
I shout
I'm proud
I'm human
Not just black
In fact
I'm the mother
I'm the negro
I'm the dad
I'm the siblings
I'm the thug
You hated
And didn't know
My words are quiet
My whispers are numb
My heart is aching
From the blood of one
My eyes are weeping
My soul in despair
Demoralizing and broken
There's death the air
My world is changing
My happiness is gone
Shots in the night
You killed my son
You killed my dad
You raped my mother
Poverty to murder
Where's my sister ?
Had you seen her?
Today I'm sad
Tomorrow I'm free
Shots rang out
Nightmares raging
Blood on my clothes
Cops just shot me
What can I do?
Die in silence
Pray my last prayer
At the hands of
Thug Hater
