Daddy's Girl
Today I cried
exposed
with light on
while I wrote
in this cold room
today I cried
hoping memories wouldn't fade
as I counted days
of happiness waving good bye
and I cried today
sitting here wondering
if you missed me
like I miss you
today I cried
silently screaming
your name from my lips
wishing I could numb this pain
another day without you
fresh scars comfort my lonely soul
my insanity wavers
with no signs of rest
What's a little girl to do
when her daddy is gone
today I cried
hoping this lament
would end
But each I wake
my tears rise with the sun
exposed
with light on
while I wrote
in this cold room
today I cried
hoping memories wouldn't fade
as I counted days
of happiness waving good bye
and I cried today
sitting here wondering
if you missed me
like I miss you
today I cried
silently screaming
your name from my lips
wishing I could numb this pain
another day without you
fresh scars comfort my lonely soul
my insanity wavers
with no signs of rest
What's a little girl to do
when her daddy is gone
today I cried
hoping this lament
would end
But each I wake
my tears rise with the sun
